The book is an interesting memoir which narrates the story of growing up of fourteen children of a middle class Muslim family of Bangladesh. The father who was the first graduate in his family rose to the position of a high ranking civil servant during the British Raj. The mother was a devoted housewife and they both raised their children in such a way that all of them received good education and established themselves in the society. Three of them were honoured with the highest civilian state honour of Bangladesh - the Independence Award which is something unique. The story of the parents and brothers and sisters has been portrayed honestly by the author who herself is a leading actor in Bangladesh theatre. What makes the book, an interesting reading is the different character of the brothers and sisters making the family a multi-cultural as well as a multi-religious one.
